All Seabirds-and-Seals boat trips depart from Victoria Pier Slipway in the old town centre of Lerwick, 100m from the Tourist Information Centre at the Market Cross.

To book, email: , fill in the online contact form, or phone or text us on: +44 (0) 7595 540 224 (24 hours)

If the line is busy, please try +44 (0) 7831 217 042. If there’s no reply there either, it probably means we’re behind a cliff and out of radio telephone range. In that case , please try again in an hour or so – or contact the Tourist Information Centre, Market Cross, Lerwick, Shetland ZE1
Tel: +44 (0) 1595 693434 (office hours only), where staff will be happy to pass messages to us.

You may also phone us free on our dedicated Seabirds-and-Seals bookings line from the Tourist Information Centre.

Charters, dawn patrols and cliff jumping

In addition to our scheduled sailings at 10am and 2pm, the boat is available for charter at other times, for up to 12 passengers. A trip from 6.30am to 9.30am, for example, usually produces some good photo opportunities, as the cliffs face east in the dawn light. From late June to late July an evening charter from 7pm to 10pm gives you a chance of seeing young guillemots leaping from the cliffs to begin their lives in the open sea.

Underwater viewing in the harbour

Evenings are also a great time for underwater viewing, using the lights on our remotely controlled submarine video camera. We can arrange one-hour or two-hour charters to explore the underwater wildlife of Bressay Sound, in guaranteed calm waters without leaving Lerwick Harbour limits.

Expeditions to the Top of Britain

If you’re thinking to take some friends and family on an expedition to Muckle Flugga and the northernmost tip of Britain, or to the islands of Out Skerries, Fetlar or Yell – we’ll be pleased to help.

Weddings, birthday surprises and celebrations afloat

We enjoy planning charter trips for special occasions, such as birthdays, anniversaries, surprise treats and retirement parties. In 2010 one couple held their wedding ceremony aboard Dunter III – and in The Orkneyman’s Cave at that! Just give us a call and we can talk over your plans for an outing to remember.

Our charter fees for 2012/13 (including fuel surcharge) are £110 per hour. If you have eight passengers or more, this can sometimes work out cheaper than the scheduled service.

Payment details and cancellation rules

We’re sorry but we’re an old fashioned, small family business and we’re not set up to accept credit or debit cards. The good news is that means you don’t pay until the day.

Fares are payable in full by cash or UK cheque when you board the boat. There’s no need to pay anything in advance – no booking fee or deposit required. We accept Euros and US dollars at the exchange rate prevailing on your sailing date but have to charge you the bank commission on top of this. There’s an ATM just across the road from our berth so it’s usually no problem getting GB pounds.

We trust our customers and they hardly ever let us down but if you do cancel without good reason at less than two hours’ notice we reserve the right to charge you all or part of your fare if we can’t find someone else to take your place.

Our scheduled summer season is from 15th April to 15th September but we’re available to sail at aother times, all year round, subject to weather, demand, crew leave and our annual scheduled refit (usually in early March).
